:: Happy Birthday, Al ::
It was Al's birthday yesterday, turning the big 21. Al has recently created a blog (I swear, first Nick, then Shaun - now Al! Everyone is copying my idea. (just joking).
Anyways, Al's site can be found at http://sports_junkie.blogspot.com. Al is in Port Alberni. Check out his site. Now!

"...mrrhhmm, barn." [shaun, talking in his sleep]
"This game sucks, we should be winning." [nick]
Damn. Game tied off a goal by Gaborik.
No wait!! Canucks just scored!!
"Nice!!" [mike & shaun simultaneously] A nice deflection by Daniel Sedin.
"Jovonovski has his fifth goal of the playoffs!" [announcer]
Canucks just scored on the powerplay! 2-1 Canucks. Jovonovski was right at the net, continuing his rushing-offensive style of playoff play. It's obviously working well.
"Arby's oven roasting. For you it means beef that's always tender and juicy. For me it means job security." [oven mitt]
Yes, that quote is from oven mitt. It's on the Arby's take-out bag. OVEN MITT!
I forgot the Canucks game started at 5 today, and only realized it when I went into Arby's and saw the game on the tv. Made it back having only missed about half the first period. At this point - first intermission - the game is tied 1-1. The Canucks scored first, for the first time in the series. But the Wild came back and tied the game, like, six minutes later.
Edit: Okay, the 2nd period just started, and the announcer said that the Canucks had three shots in the first period.
Three. Shots.
That's just pathetic.
:: Blue ::

You are blue. You are somewhat innocent, in the fact that your genius only extends to the physical world. You have a false sense of contentness. You are usually the quiet one, the genius. Everyone can count on you to help when they have problems, but you only fall short of being able to solve your own.
What inner color are you?
Nick: "What's his name, that guy?"
Matt: "Oh, I don't know, probably Stanley or some other stupid name."
Shaun has created a blog! It's at http://gracefulclutz.blogspot.com (a very fitting address, if I do say so myself). Check it out.

"Brent, your blister can't beat my blister. This is insane!!!" [reed]
Reed: "I have the ugliest feet known to mankind."
Steve: "I had pretty feet, until I got this bruise on my toe."
Just some quotes from some road hockey today with the high school guys; Reed, Steve, Brent, Ryan Lowey and myself played for a couple hours.
Well, Nick left about half an hour ago. With that, our troupe is down to one. We had a great time last night though, just me Nick and Shaun hanging out and enjoying ourselves. With all the moving and packing now over with, I guess it's time to get into realistic summer mode, ie find a job.

"If this was my commerical...well, it would be vastly, vastly different." [nick, talking about the Viagra commercial]
"Fucking game." [nick]
Damn. Canucks lost by one goal. There were so many chances in the last few minutes though. It could've totally gone the other way.
"The Canucks will be enraged about that." [announcer]
"I am enraged!" [nick]
Canucks scored! Woo!! Down by one goal, it's manageable.
"They have two goals on three shots, that's just freaking gross." [nick]
"If I was a restaurant owner in Vancouver and I saw any Minnesota players in my restaurant, I would poison all of them." [nick]
"Minnesota can suck my balls." [shaun]
That was the most disgusting two and a half minutes of hockey I've seen in a while. Two Minnesota goals in under three minute? Give me a break.
"If anybody ever called me Mr. Fluid expert, I think I would lose it." [nick]
Canucks just scored to tie the game. A very nice goal by Jovonovski, rushing in on a Canucks rush. 1-1 game at this point.
"Reid almost steals it, and...he does!" [canucks radio announcer] [nick says John Shorthouse]
There's 2:40 left in the first period of Game 2 of the Canucks/Wild series, and it's a much better game already. Action, and there's just fewer sloppy plays by both teams. We have food, and we have nothing to do for the next few hours except cheer ourselves hoarse from the comfort of Nick's empty living room. (The only thing left to do now is eat.)
Well, we actually won't do that. But we will root for the 'nucks.
"If we were to crash, at least we'd survive, because we're drunk. You guys would end up impaled all over the place." [mike l'heureux]
It's 2:55 am right now, and blogger doesn't seem to be working, so I guess this is another post that will be delayed. I will commence writing a post that will be difficult due to a state of inebriation (so consider yourself now served with fair and adequate warning) and because I'm sad.
Why am I sad? Meghan left today. Exactly an hour and a half ago. Me, Lorne, Melissa Jameson and Nick were at the Greyhound to say goodbye.
For Meghan's last night here we went for a bite to eat at Fogg n' Sudds, then went to the Max for about an hour and a half/two hours. It was alright, but Meghan says she had a good time, and really, since it's her last night in town and all that, that was really all that mattered.
As Nick said recently, our little group is going our separate ways for the summer. It's going to be kind of weird, not having Melissa and Meghan around, and possibly not having Nick here either.
I'm going to miss them over the next four months. It's sort of a "...huh, wow. Everyone's actually leaving and going home for summer, and I won't see them again for a long time."
I said to Meghan recently about how just even driving won't be as entertaining without her in the passenger seat making funny faces, or singing, or telling me to ram the car in front of us. Or the playful teasing, semi-rantish banter ("Maybe I should go back to life school and learn how to live!!) and such. Stuff like that, I'm going to miss. It's been four months since I've even gone out to the bar or anything like that without them.
I guess I'll have to turn all my sarcasm upon Shaun now.
After Greyhound we dropped off Lorne, then picked up Shaun and Mike. We dropped off Melissa, then proceeded to invade A&W for a while, while Mike and Shaun made everyone free food and playfully harassed the two girls working there. It was quite entertaining.
As Meghan and I were taking her stuff out to the bus to be loaded on she said that we have next year to look forward to. And that is true. I'm sure next year will be quite fun, and I'm definitely looking forward to it. But I'll still miss everyone.
I'm reminded of a card I saw today in Wal-Mart, which I will repeat the contents of below:
I tripped over nothing today, laughed hilariously at myself, and then asked myself "walked much recently?"
After all, you weren't here, and somebody had to do it.
Miss you.

"Don't mob Klatt! He needs to do his dance!" [me]
Trent Klatt scores to win the game!! Wooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! It was a slow, slow play, but Klatt had a NICE deflection!! Assist off a Daniel Sedin shot, and actually come to think of it, upon seeing the replay just now I realize that it wasn't a nice deflection, it was SPECTACULAR!!!
Canucks: 1, Wild: 0.
"Fernandez was sleeping! It almost went in!" [game announcer]
Overtime was almost missed! We got back after about two minutes of overtime had passed but it was all good, no goals had been scored yet.
UPDATE
Canucks score to tie the game with 1.2 seconds left!! Rock on.
Update: Game anaology part II:
Canucks call time-out.
Wes Walz's stick breaks.
"A mountain of beer? Sweet." [nick]
"They make the box a triangle and you're sold? " [matt]
(referring to the new Kokanee 'mountain of beer' triangular box)
The Canucks are losing 3-2 in one of the ugliest, sloppiest games of playoff hockey I've ever seen. Sticks are snapping like twigs, the pick is bouncing like mad, and people are falling, stumbling and running into players on their own teams. Here is a sample play.
Canuck runs into Wes Walz and breaks Walz's stick, but Canuck then falls and gives away puck to a Wild player. Wild player fans on shot, puck goes to Canuck, who misses puck because it's bouncing. Wes Walz's stick breaks. Canuck pass goes off skate. Wild player runs into teammate. Wes Walz's stick breaks. Murray Baron gives puck away to Gaborik, who shoots, fetches his own rebound because Canucks defense are staring at the lights, and puts it in to put the Wild ahead.
It's just ugly.
"Have a good summer." [nick and I, to melissa]
Well, this was written at 1:33 AM Friday morning, but Blogger wasn't working at the time, so I'm posting it now.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was about an hour and a half ago that Melissa left on the Greyhound. She's headed to Medicine Hat to meet up with her friends Sharon and Matt, and then they're all headed back to Dawson Creek. Her trip to Medicine Hat is something gross like 14 hours. Brutal.
Today was moving day. As in, time for Shaun, Meghan and Melissa to move EVERYTHING left in their house out. Shaun got his truck and headed up there, while in the meantime Melissa and Meghan were doing last minute touch-ups and gathering all their stuff to be shuffled out. Moving Shaun's room didn't take very long, and even the most difficult item - his futon - really wasn't very tough. And it was funny watching him try (keyword, *try*) to back the truck up to the front door. So we packed up all his junk and he took off for home. Plan was he would drop off everything at the L'heureux house, then go for dinner at his parents, then come back up so we could go to Upper College Heights and get Al's large furniture to bring to the storage unit.
Rewind for a moment.
Al lives (lived, now) at Upper College Heights, and decided a few days ago that he'd store his larger items - bed, dresser, desk, that kind of thing - in meghan & melissa's storage unit. This might not be a problem, except for the fact that a) everyone is super insanely busy, b) most of the other stuff that is going in the storage unit is already there and nicely arranged, and c) we don't know if there is room in the storage unit at all. Add to that the fact that the girls still have a bunch of boxes and stuff that have to go in there, and we get a nice day full of rearranging things in the storage to try to fit their stuff in there, let alone Al's stuff. I'm not really looking forward to tomorrow when we attempt this.
Oh, did I mention that it will be just me and Meghan doing this as well. Shaun will be working, Nick will be packing *his* stuff to be transported home to Langley, and Melissa is gone.
So right now my car is full of Meghan's stuff, Melissa's stuff, and Al's smaller stuff, all waiting for the morning where they will be shoved, pushed, and jammed into a storage unit that is already super full.

I knew Wednesday morning when I saw the Fantasy Baseball scores for this week so far, and that I was losing 11-2, that this day was not destined to be one of the best. Sure enough, my instincts were correct.
People are apparently mad at me, and I don't know why. I'm surprised and kind of disheartened, not to mention confused. This isn't the way I wanted to end the year. :\

"I wouldn't be sad if the Blues just all died." [nick]
"They should send everyone in Vancouver with SARS to a Blues practice." [nick]
So it was game seven of the Canucks-Blues game last night. Me and Shaun went over to Nick's place and watched a WICKED GAME. We were totally into it from start to finish - even if it did start off with a horrible start, a Blues goal - a sloppy one too - a minute into the game. Talk about disheartening. But it was all Canucks after that (they won 4-1), as the dominated the hapless Blues, who even had their venerable captain Al MacInnis back. It was a great game. The Canucks were outplaying, outskating and outhitting the Blues, including injured, old MacInnis. Cloutier came up with some great saves too, as the Blues did have a number of good opportunities. Bertuzzi threw some crushing hits, Brandon Reid was his usual awesome self, and Trevor Linden had a spectacular night with a very good assist and a beautiful goal. All in all it was a wonderful game. I'm more into playoff hockey right now than I have been in years.

"Nothing says we're sorry you died like burgers and beer." [nick]
Hung out with Trevor today, it was nice - haven't seen him in a long time. We just chatted and caught up on matters, and played some ps2 and gamecube. Later on at 7, me and Nick went to the KIBIHT tournament final game - it was Detroit Honeybaked versus California Wave. Detroit won. There were some good plays, some bad ones, and a lot of sarcastic comments. Afterwards headed up to Meghan and Melissa's place and hung out there for a while, then me and Shaun headed back to my house, where we are right now.
Everyone is leaving this week, which is kind of sad. Al leaves Thursday, Melissa leaves Friday, Nick leaves Saturday sometime (possibly, or he might stick around for a few days) and Meghan leaves Saturday night. Meghan and Melissa's house is torn apart at the moment - all the large stuff and storable stuff is in a storage place, and they're packing madly and cleaning the house like crazy.
The Canucks have come back to make it to game 7! Rock on. Gonna watch the game tomorrow with Nick. Looking forward to it.
In lighter news, the parents bought pears! Rejoice! The pears have returned to bless me with their peary goodness!
All in all, it was a very...undramatic day, come to think of it.

"Kraft dinner kinda scares me." [meghan]
Put up the rest of the hockey pictures -> http://deco.cooltrap.com/pictures/hockey2. Check 'em out. Cause they rule!
"ice down her shirt"
Haha, "ice down her shirt" was a search result on msn.com that led someone to this site. The site description that comes up on the search engine is "... Then in the car I tossed ice down her shirt. She screamed. ... "
We went and saw Bowling for Columbine today, it was decent - pretty much what I expected for a Michael Moore film. I mean, the usual 'shocking' statistics and facts about deplorable America, as well as Moore's trademark pesky nature. Overall an interesting show.
Nick recently got a new camera, a digital one, for his birthday. So he decided to give it a test run today at street hockey. The pictures RULE...all 130 of them that we took in three hours. I've uploaded the first 36, you can check them out at http://deco.cooltrap.com/pictures/hockey2 - they are super nice pics.

On Rondell White (baseball news!)
White has recorded a hit in each of his last nine games, after starting the 2003 season 0-for-14. The outfielder currently leads the San Diego Padres with three home runs and 10 RBI. During the streak, White has 14 hits in 37 at-bats and has raised his season batting average to .292.

"Wagahgamo." [meghan]
Me and Melissa are in this baseball pool. Besides us, there's Al, Nick, Rich, John*, Mark, Matt, and another person that's either Matt's or Mark's friend. Our team is the Mike Whites (Melissa's last name is White), and our team rules!
I should mention that neither of us know anything about baseball.
This was a pretty cool draft process for choosing players for teams. It was a live draft, and we were all (well, not all, but most) in the journalism lab at the time of the draft, and it would go down the list - we'd all wait and see who the first person picked, then await our turn, etc. And it went down and down the line.
Our first pick was Barry Bonds, because we knew that a) Rich knows a lot about baseball, and b) Rich wanted him.
Our second pick was Jose Hernandez. We aren't really sure why. But we do know that everyone in the room turned and looked at us quizzically when we chose him.
After that we just chose people we thought were good and ranked high on the list...until we chose Larry Walker.
Melissa: "Oooh, ooh! Let's choose him! (pointing at Walker's name) I've heard of him before!"
And that's where things got interesting. From there, we proceeded to choose purely by three strict criteria:
1. The player's last name was White. We now have all three players with the last name White on our team: Rondell White, Gabe White, and Rick White.
2. The player's name was Mike and his last name started with M. We have Mike Matheny, Mike Mussina, Mike Matthews, Mike Maroth, and Mark Mulder (we made a mistake) on our team.
3. The player's name ruled! We have Chipper Jones, Omar Vizquel, Troy Percival, Octavio Dotel, and Danys Baez.
And the funniest part of this all? The Mike Whites are in third place right now! :D
* as a side note, John has just started his site - spigott.ca - so check it out. Right now there's a bunch of photos from street hockey (taken by me!) and even a short hockey video.

"I call Al Mac sometimes, because it's easier to say than...Al."[nick]
We've been playing a fair amount of street hockey lately - here are pictures.
